Wlaked every step of the way, took twice as long as the fastest runners from the last control to the finish line but won every other leg.

First running attempt after the knee injury 9 days ago: It went really badly even when I did alternating sets of 50 steps running and 25 steps walking, the pain was bad enough that I could not concentrate and made a couple of really stupid 3-min mistakes.
Controls 1 (too low), 9 (too high) and probably 11 (too far SE) were slightly misplaced in the forest, they should have used GPS verification when marking the controls in the forest and when placing the flags.

Orienteered from 1 to 12, lost between 4 and 5 minutes!
Lucky on 6 where I never saw the path halfway and was still looking for that or the ride when I hit the control so perfectly that I had to check the control code. :-)
Small mistakes on 8 (maybe placed a bit too far south?) and 9 (misplaced compared with the marsh below).

Some hesitatiions but ony one real mistake when I started running from 1 to 10 instead of 2, lost half a minute here. Since I was one minute behind my clubmate Øystein Ruud this didn't make any difference to me final placement: 7 out of 28

Worst time loss might have been on the finish punch: It was supposed to be on top of the knoll, but in reality it was located at the side of the track. I lost 20 seconds here!

Shaky start with wobbles to 1 & 2, then a half minute mistake on 4 when I would have seen the flag if I just looked up as I was moving in exactly the right direction. :-(

Another nearly perfectly executed race, but still nearly 5 minutes behind Nils Hæstad, in 5th place. I considered taking the main paths around to the north to the first control, but considered that to be too boring. It was probably half a minute faster than the route I took!
I did not spot the flag on the second control, so I hesitated a few seconds just in front of it.
On the third control I stopped just above the control, then realized that I had to jump down one more step.
My main problem is still that I cannot run the way I used to. :-(

Extremely cold! 5C, nearly freezing rain. Even with a wool upper it was so cold that I never got warm during the race, but I did at least manage near-perfect orienteering: The first 7 were optimal but I should either have run straight over the hill to 8, or at least hit the track a bit further south. 15-20 seconds?
Tom A Karlsen in H70 ran the same course and he was over a minute faster than me!

An almost perfect race: Zero control misses or hesitations, but in hindsight it looks like I lost -20+ seconds on the safe path route to control 9, and that with the rain and slippery rocks and roots on the main path down to 11, it was actually a bit faster to run almost straight in the terrain.

Two stupid mistakes, on controls 8 and 12!
My route from 1 to 2 was quite bad when I didn't find the path inside the logged area in the start. Going straight would have been much better.

3.3 km / 54 minutes to Haslumseter Kapell.
34 min break
20 min to KP 12
5 min at the fixed control
58 minutes back down to the car park.
Total: 8.6 km, 2:11 moving time.

My worst race ever?
My knee was hurting so much that I intentionally ran out of the map in the forest from 4 to 5, just to avoid downhill running on pavement. When I also ran badly to control 12 I ended up close to last of all finishing runners.

Forgot my description holder so I just fastened it upside down to my start number, this cost me when I read 58 upside down as 85 and returned to the control to check once more. GPS track indicates I lost 37 seconds here. Running on the stone steps up to 7 and down again to 8 was very painful. My distance behind the winner was about 4 min, just like yesterday when the competition time was more than twice as long.

OK on the uphill legs, lost too much going down, but except for the route to #9 it was mostly OK. I am happy with a top 10 finish with more than 50 starters in a country where I last ran in 1977!

Allergy season stopped me here, my running shape hit a proper wall. I also made one serious mistake when I ran into an olive green area, discovered what I had done and had to return the same way.

Best race this year! Close to optimal routes, zero control mistakes, but still almost exactly 4 minutes behind Nils Hæstad who is simply much more fit than the rest of us.

I almost took the wrong turn in two places (to 4 & 6), then my route to 12 (just after the map flip) was both more streneous and a few seconds slower than simply running flat around to the left, going past 14 and 13. I was happy with the race, not quite as far behind as I was when we started the same race series last year.

I halped organize this race, handling entry and timing, but before most of the runers arrived I ran through my own course. Slow running but no real mistakes before the final control where I failed to spot the flag (it was hidden behind a spruce).

I was positively surprised in that my knee did better than expected! I orienteered well and finished just two minutes behind the winners. 5-20 cm snow depth, some of the paths were extremely icy, my old metal-studded shoes had big problems getting a grip.

First orienteering run since the first part of january, so my shape was just as bad as I feared. Very easy course though, so mostly just plodidng along.
