Ås by Night & Fog Cup #2 (2014-11-25)

Night-O without a proper compass is very difficult!

The plan was to take the safe route to #1, following the path until the ride, follow that past the logged area and then cut over to the path, but when I was fooled by an unmapped track up through the area that's mapped with dark green, I really lost it: Whne I cut over the hill to find the path but hit a wide open logged area I had no idea at all where I was for several minutes until I recovered on the knoll SSW of the control. I must have lost at least 3-4 min here!

#2 should have been easy, but not when running with an old wobbly thumb compass with an air bubble in it, lost another 20-30 sec.

I managed to keep pretty good control towards #3, including finding the beginning of the indistinct path, but when that lead off too far right I lost another minute or so.

#4 resulted in exactly the same story, OK direction until I hit the indistinct creek, but when that was a proper ditch with a lot of water I got insecure and thought I had ended up too far south and lost another 1-2 minutes.

From this point on I started to run more or less with my nose on top of the compass, checking it far more frequently and the rest of the controls went OK.
