WOC Tour 5 H65 (29.06.2022)

Back in Fredrikshåb, on the same arena as day 1 but this time the courses were further east and the course planning was better adapted to the terrain and map quality.

This was probably my first (near-)perfect race in Denmark since 1973 when we got a very simple course in H16 near Viborg. I had no control errors and the closest to a route mistake must have been #7 where it might have been possible to read from the map that taking a slight right turn around the green might have been faster than following the narrow yellow opening which I used.

I did spend a few extra seconds reading the map halfway to #10 trying to determine which ride would lead to the control. This and general hesitations when trying to make sure I would not mess up here after an error-free run so far meant that Rolf Lund beat me by 43 seconds, which was more than the 40 seconds I was behind him in the end!

I lead the race on controls #1, 2, 5, 6 & 7, then Rolf was in the lead to the end.
