My worst race this fall, I failed to spot #1 (2:30 lost), OK to #2, failed again to see the flag on #3 (1 min loss), ok to #4.
The real disaster struck to #5, just after I spotted the lone cabin just 100+ meters before the flag: I just needed to drop into the elongated marsh-filled valley and it would lead me to the control! I managed instead to follow the less distinct valley just to the east and never managed to figure this out. I was back almost to #4 before I decided to follow a bunch of young girls back to that lone cabin and then I finally realized my mistake. This took 12 min extra!
I did nmot want to run together with those girls, so up to #8 I decided to take a more direct route and executed that well nearly to the control circle, but for the final push the terrain was so broken up thatI lost height while detouring around unmapped cliffs and windfall. A final 2+ min lost here for a total of almost 18 min!
