Due to time issues I had to start 15 min before the delayed chase start, which meant that I ran the first two controls in the sunset/twilight period. This was no advantage since I missed the first control by 2 min and the second by about 1:20 due to not spotting the reflex marker.
On my way to #3 my compass was caught by a bush/branch and the attachment cord broke. I found it after 45 sec, and for the rest of the race I just had to carry it together with the map.
I hit #3, the central butterfly control perfectly, then I had the western wing which went OK except that going from 4 to 5 the indistinct path was invisible where I crossed it so I lost some time (30-45 sec?) searching for it.
On the way back from the second wing I tried to go south and around the green which was really dense, but I did not find a good route and when I hit the path I did not know if I was left or right of the path junction so I ran a little bit to the north before cutting over.
Happy with #10 where I used my compass to the edge of the hill, then down to locate the cliff which I used as my attack point.
Compass with the cliffs as a correction point let me hit #11 perfectly, then just running to the finish.
Total time loss was close to 5 min, most of it due to not seeing the reflex markers and then the search for my compass, pretty good from that point on.
