Ås by Night & Fog Cup #1 (20.11.2020)

Due to Covid I had to run this course 3 days after the event, all alone in the forest but thankfully the conditions were the best in a long while, with -3C and a few snow flurries. This was a huge improvement from the torrential rain we've had the last month or so.

OK orienteering to #1-4, but then I had folded my map in such a way that the second digit of '11' looked like a connecting line from 4 to 11 so I started in that direction and discovered after almost a minute that this was the wrong control!

Next I ran OK to 5-9 then I first decided to run back down to the ski track but changed my mind because I wanted more orienteering. However, even though I hit the track junction perfectly, I still lost about a minute to those who took the easy route.

Towards #12 I relaxed when I found the path near #1, now I just had to follow the path until it ended in a partly overgrown logged area, but when the path in reality just kept going I followed it even though I actually spotted the reflex marker around where the path was supposed to end. I think I lost nearly minute here. :-(
